Pop-Up Canopy

As discussed in the SD ExCOMM meeting in March, the Consultants’ Network purchased a pop-up canopy for the Del Mar Electronics and Manufacturing Show. While the purchase was not justified for just two days, a number of other OUs in San Diego indicated that they would use it for some of their events in the future. The idea was to put a generic label on the top with IEEE San Diego or such.

After some consideration and some consulting with printers, it became apparent that there might be a more flexible way to accomplish our goal.

The idea is to use a 8’x2′ banner with the canopy. This allows any OU to use the pop-up. All they have to do is create a banner.

Here is one of the consultants’ network’s banner’s attached to the pop-up, just to give you a perspective on how it will look.

New Banner

Here is a draft of a Section Banner. One idea is to print two identical banners. For the DMEMS, one for the pop-up tent and one for the section booth. This would also allow two banners to exist for future events as finding and getting the banner to events is always a challenge, having two increases the odds of getting a banner at an event.

The text, logo and border colors are IEEE standards as are the fonts.

Banner with QR Code. One issue with QR code is real estate. To be scannable from 10′ away, it needs to be 1′ wide (which means 1′ high). That reduces the size of the title. This example will probably be about 8″ x 8 “

Any suggestions are welcome forward to m.w.bryant@ieee.org. I will be happy to send anyone the word document if you want to play with the layout.
